Who are school psychologists?

One in five children and youth in our
country experience a mental health disorder. The vast majority of children
who receive mental health services access them in the school setting. School
psychologists help students, families, educators, and members of the community
understand and resolve both long-term chronic problems and short-term issues
that students may face. They understand how these issues affect learning,
behavior, well-being, and school engagement. School psychologists are also there in
the wake of tragedy to help support students, families, and communities
through the recovery process.
