Personal Care Aide Training | Adult Education

Orange Coast College offers a tuition-free
Personal Care Aide training program that will prepare you for an entry-level position in
the healthcare field. You can work flexible hours and take classes
while gaining real world experience. Personal Care Aides assist the elderly or
individuals with disabilities with daily living activities in a person’s home or care facility. Job duties may include assisting a client
with personal care, grooming, bathing and dressing. Clients may also need help moving in and out
of their bed, wheelchair or automobile. To keep patients mentally healthy, aides also
engage in friendly conversation and book reading. Light housekeeping tasks may be required including
changing bed linens, washing clothes and cleaning. Aides perform other health-care related tasks
such as reminding clients to take prescribed medication, preparing meals and record keeping. The Personal Care Aide certificate program
consists of three, free noncredit classes that can be finished in less than a semester. Students earn American Heart Association First
Aid, CPR, AED certification in the last class. For more information, check out our webpage.
