Bright Spots Burnside Primary School

Being a Bright Spots Awardee has allowed us to take time to really focus on the project that we are looking at. This started from our new entrants cohorts, that have been coming in with 70% of them being unable to finish sentences with an opposite, label their body parts, use pronouns correctly. We new we needed to do something differently. We saw that there was a need for an oracy framework within our school, and it started with a team of fantastic teachers looking at that in their own time and then we realised that we needed to take it out across the whole school. We’re really enjoying this process. We’ve learnt a huge amount. And we know that we’re going to learn a huge amount more as we do it. Collectively we are stronger than just a group of two people.
